Project Scope:

Casey Electrical Services (CES) is preparing for a state housing electrical upgrade at James O’Donnell in Ansonia, CT, set to begin in 2025. This project involves installing two new generators—a 100kW and a 20kW three-phase unit—to provide reliable backup power for the facility. In addition to the generator installations, CES will upgrade all electrical systems to improve safety, efficiency, and long-term performance.

Working in partnership with A Prete as the general contractor, CES will ensure that all electrical infrastructure meets state housing regulations and energy efficiency standards, enhancing the overall reliability of the facility’s power systems.

Planned Installations and Upgrades:

Backup Power & Generator Systems:

 • 100kW & 20kW Three-Phase Generators: Installing two backup power systems to support critical loads and essential services in the housing facility.

 • Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS): Implementing seamless transition systems to ensure uninterrupted power during outages.

Power Distribution & Electrical Upgrades:

 • System-Wide Electrical Modernization: Upgrading outdated electrical panels, wiring, and distribution systems to enhance safety and efficiency.

 • Load Balancing & Surge Protection: Optimizing power distribution to prevent system overloads and electrical failures.

Lighting & Safety Enhancements:

 • Interior & Exterior Lighting Upgrades: Installing energy-efficient lighting to improve visibility and security in all common areas and outdoor spaces.

 • Emergency Lighting & Exit Signage: Ensuring compliance with state-mandated safety requirements for well-lit emergency pathways.

Fire Alarm & Life Safety Systems:

 • Fire Alarm Panel & Device Upgrades: Replacing outdated fire alarm systems with modern, code-compliant notification systems.

 • Testing & Certification: Conducting thorough testing to meet state housing and safety regulations.
